PRINCIPAL’S ROLE

PRINCIPAL’S ROLE

The Principal

The Principal is the most important staff member in the school: the learning expert, the leader of other staff and students, the manager and administrator. It is hoped that the contents of this school manual will be of use to the Principal in any and all of the above roles.

The material in the manual is laid out in relation to these roles. All Cook Island Principals are on contract and key details from the contract are included here.

The professional development of Principals as learning experts is of paramount importance to the Ministry of Education and the second part of the Principal’s section of the manual is concerned with the processes and practices involved in the Professional Development System for Principals of the Cook Islands. This material comes from the Ministry of Education’s booklet.

Principals are encouraged at all times to contact the Ministry when they have questions concerning the curriculum, staffing or day to day management. A contact list is provided here of Ministry staff and other School Principals
